Writing

I would say that I first got into writing when I was about 14 or 15. I started meeting girls and becoming pen pals (one in Plymouth, one in Barbados - slightly different!). It was then that I found an ability to write imaginitive things and was overwhelmed with the replies I received.

Next stop was GCSE English and English Literature and the reason I felt I had done reasonably well was due to the creative writing, having always had an overactive imagination.

It wasn't until Rosemary Mason and Seamus Finnegan, writing tutors at Southampton Institute, had seen my potential, however, that i started to do anything about it. True, i had kept a journal for almost 2 years upon my introduction to the tutors, but by the end of the course I had done about five writing units and loved every minute of it, it changing the way I saw and used my journal ever since.

I had a poem published in 2002 through Southampton Institute in a collection of works entitled Write Angles. It can be found under: the truth behind trees in the poetry section.

I also had a couple of articles published on Queens Park Rangers Football Club's unofficial website: www.qpr.uk.co, before beginning to branch out into lyrical poetry and short stories. Then, finally in 2004, I was accepted onto a Masters in Novel Writing at Manchester University and have not looked back since.

i also wrote a film script called Grey Matters in 2000 which needs a lot of work, but I would be interested if anyone wants to give me some feedback on it. ENJOY!
